Have you ever noticed that tech products in the US are significantly cheaper than Europe?
Even for global brands such as Apple, by the time the new iPhone or new Macbook reaches the EU it costs hundreds of Euros more. Heck in my country it would be cheaper to buy a plane ticket, fly to New York, get a cab to take you to an Apple store, pick up a Macbook Pro and get back than it is to go downtown and buy the same laptop from a retail store.
That’s why I almost do all my tech shopping online. I refuse to play double or sometimes more the price for a tech product that I can get online. If you ever shopped on Amazon however, or any other online store for that matter, you definitely came across the notification “this product cannot be shipped to your location” or “this product is not available in your region”.
Services like MyUS were created to overcome this issue.
MyUS offers you a US address you can use to send your online purchases to and then arranges for these packages to be forwarded to your actual location. I’ve been using it for years and I’ve been extremely satisfied.
It’s free to use but they also offer a subscription with additional benefits such as better shipping rates, etc.
Now you can buy the laptop you always wanted that wasn’t available in stores in your area or was stupidly expensive.
Note: You have to take into account that MyUS uses an express service to ship the package (i.e. DHL, UPS, etc) and you still have to pay import taxes on your purchase. So consider these costs when making a purchase through MyUS.
Also before rushing to buy everything from the US you may want to check out what the Chinese stores have to offer. There are some great deals to be found there and in many cases the products listed there are of equal quality but at a much lower price from what you will find in US websites.
