Posted by So you just purchased a new laptop and you are ready to work, only to find out that Microsoft Office is not installed. Or your new laptop came with Windows 10 Home but you need Windows 10 Pro for work.
You could go the open source route and install one of the several great alternatives out there or you can just use the web version of Microsoft Office or Google Docs which are offered for free.
However if you need Microsoft Office your only option is either purchase a license or subscribe to Office 365.
The good news is that you don’t have to pay full price for a license that usually costs upwards of $200 (€300) for Office 2019 Home or $70 (€65) for a 1 year Office 365 subscription.

The process for Office 2021 is very simple. All you need is a Microsoft Outlook account which you can register for free here if you don’t alreay have an Outlook email address.
Just go to setup.office.com
Log in with your Microsoft Outlook account and enter the license key you purchased. The key will validate and you can then download and activate your copy of Microsoft Office directly from Microsoft.
For Office 365 you can follow these instructions from Microsoft on how to download, install and activate Office 365 after you have purchased your keys.
If your computer came with a non-activated version of Windows or you have Windows Home but require the Pro version there are also keys available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 activation. You can download an official copy of Windows 10 or Windows 11 directly from Microsoft, install it as normal and then activate it using the key you purchased.
